U.S. President George W. Bush has always scared me. His administration has invaded other countries, run itself virtually bankrupt and generally pissed off most of the world. Now, he sets his sights on his own people.
The Truth Project is a group of Quakers in Florida. They where targeted because they promote peace and organize anti-war protests. The military intelligence gathered on these people (all of them white, church-going senior citizens) is over 400 pages long. So, war-protesting peace-promoting Quakers are a national threat? What are they going to do? Shout and stamp until something explodes? Jeeze.
It reminds me of the fellow who was arrested a few years ago in a New York mall for wearing an anti-war T-Shirt he bought. In that very same mall. His crime? Wearing an anti-war t-shirt. I do believe they got away with arresting and charging this poor fellow if my memory serves me correctly.
Yes, it’s fear mongering in a sense, but I do think it’s good to be aware of what’s going on with our southern neighbors. The president wields too much power, and his policies both at home and abroad reek of something else we’ve seen in the past… Say about 60 to 70 years ago?
